MBYC Charter Agreement* I agree to the charter agreement.
Policies Governing the Use and Care of Mission Bay Yacht Club CFJ's and 420's for high school use.
1. Skipper and crew must both have CFJ /420 contracts on file with the Junior Sailing Director. The sailors must sign these contracts.
2. The annual fee of $500 must be paid prior to using the MBYC double-handed boats. The fee is charged October 2021 and allows use through October 2022. Sailors have the option to pay by quarter. The quarterly fee is $200 per quarter. All sailors must be Members of a High School team.
3. The key to the sail locker must be checked out by from the Junior Sailing Director. Only sailors who have signed contracts currently on file with the Junior Sailing Director will be allowed to check out the key. The person who checks out the key is responsible for all equipment in the equipment storage locker that has not been signed out by another sailor. This means that the door gets locked before you go out on the water, and you’ll need to return the key before you go out on the water.
4. If the boats need to be used on a day when the front office is closed, or the Junior Sailing Director is not present, arrangements must be made 72 hours in advance.
5. All MBYC double handed boats are assigned hull numbers (ex.1, 2, 3...). Each hull will have the following parts:
mast, tiller, jib sheets, mainsail, jib, spinnaker sheets,
rudder, boom, mainsheet, spinnaker, spinnaker pole, cover, seitech dolly
6. All parts must be stored in their proper locations. These are as follows:
• Practice CFJ and C420 sails will be kept in the sail locker
• Practice sails must be put away properly in the sail locker
• All boats and equipment must be returned to proper locations at the end of every day
• Rudders and tillers will be stored vertically on the bottom shelf on the right wall
• Race sails need to be reserved 72 hours ahead of time with the Junior Sailing Director.
7. From time to time the boat is checked out until it is returned to MBYC. The care of all parts is the sole responsibility of the junior sailor. The sailor will be charged for any stolen, missing, broken, or lost parts.
8. MBYC owns trapeze harnesses for the use with each of the club's 420's. These are stored with the Junior Sailing Director and must be reserved 72 hours ahead of time and are to be checked out from and returned to the Junior Sailing Director. This gear is not to be stored in the equipment storage locker under any circumstances.
9. All broken gear (hulls, sails, dollies) must be reported immediately to the Junior Sailing Director. It is important to follow this rule so that broken, unsafe gear is not distributed to other junior sailors, and so all boats can be maintained in regatta-ready condition. Boat damage that takes place at practice or a regatta is the responsibility of the La Jolla High School Sailing Team.
10. All gear (including sails) must be rinsed with fresh water. The sails need to be properly dried and returned in the sail bag to the Junior Sailing Director with in 24 hours of the end of the event. All sand, dirt, and trash must be removed from cockpit. The water must be drained from the cockpit, and air tanks. Boats must be covered and stored neatly in their proper space. Gear must be returned to its proper location in the equipment storage locker or directly to the Junior Sailing Director.
I have thoroughly read and understand this contract and agree to abide by the conditions set forth. I understand that I will be charged for equipment that is damaged, stolen, lost, or missing because of negligent care. I understand that signing this contract and paying for the boat use fee allows for the use of club equipment and authorizes the use of a key to the equipment storage locker, both of which are privileges that may be revoked at any time by the Junior Sailing Director, Club Manager, or Board of Directors.
